Big Billion Days 2026: Which Credit Card Gives Maximum Cashback on Flipkart?
Honest Flipkart BBD 2026 card comparison — Axis Flipkart vs SBI Cashback vs HDFC Millennia. Instant bank discount vs ongoing cashback, with real cart math and caps.
What changed — and what it means for you
Flipkart Big Billion Days 2026 opens on 9 October, with early access on 8 October for Plus, Black, and eligible Flipkart credit-card members. Every year the same posts appear: “HDFC, Axis, ICICI all have exclusive deals — use this card for maximum cashback.” Most of that is half-true marketing. Two different savings layers get mashed into one headline, and the caps that actually decide who wins get buried.
Two pots of money — don’t mix them up
Before you compare cards, separate the sale discount from the card’s normal rewards. They stack differently, and they hit different ceilings.
- Sale instant discount — a % off at Flipkart checkout on eligible Axis or ICICI cards. Headline is “upto 10%.” Reality is a hard rupee cap per order (press coverage often cites around ₹1,500 — always read the strip on the product page before you pay).
- Ongoing card cashback — statement credit or points after the purchase, from the card’s MITC. Flipkart Axis pays 5% on Flipkart with a ₹4,000/quarter pool. SBI Cashback pays 5% online but stops at ₹2,000 online per statement cycle. HDFC Millennia pays 5% on named partners including Flipkart, capped at ₹1,000 cashback per month.
What a ₹40,000 Flipkart cart actually returns
Assume one big festive cart of ₹40,000 on Flipkart, paid in non-EMI, on an eligible product. Instant discount modelled at ₹1,500 (10% capped). Cashback modelled on the amount Flipkart bills after the discount, where the card earns Flipkart rewards. Exact bank caps change by SKU — treat these as planning numbers, then confirm at checkout.
| Card | Sale instant discount | Ongoing Flipkart earn | Rough total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flipkart Axis | ~₹1,500 (Axis bank offer) | ~₹1,925 (5% on billed amount, under ₹4k/qtr) | ~₹3,425 |
| Any eligible ICICI card | ~₹1,500 (ICICI bank offer) | ~₹385 if the card only pays ~1% on Flipkart | ~₹1,885 |
| SBI Cashback | Usually ₹0 (not Flipkart’s bank partner) | ₹2,000 (hits online cycle cap) | ₹2,000 |
| HDFC Millennia | Usually ₹0 (not headline partner) | ₹1,000 (hits partner monthly cap) | ₹1,000 |
| HDFC MoneyBack+ | Usually ₹0 | ~₹1,000 (≈2.5% CashPoints) | ~₹1,000 |
Instant-discount min cart, max discount, and excluded categories are set by Flipkart + the bank for each product. Re-check the offer T&Cs on the day you buy. Amazon Pay ICICI is great on Amazon — on Flipkart it is usually just another ICICI card for the sale discount, not a 5% Flipkart co-brand.
Pick by cart size, not by bank logo
| Your Flipkart cart | Best practical pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Around ₹15,000 | Flipkart Axis (if approved / already held) | Sale discount + 5% still beats a pure 5% card with no bank offer (~₹2,175 vs ~₹750). |
| Around ₹40,000 | Flipkart Axis | Stack stays strongest. SBI is capped at ₹2,000 online/cycle. Millennia is capped at ₹1,000/mo. |
| Around ₹80,000 | Flipkart Axis | You can still use most of the ₹4,000/quarter Flipkart cashback pool on one big haul, plus the sale discount. |
| ₹1,20,000+ | Flipkart Axis, and mind the quarter | Axis Flipkart cashback stops at ₹4,000/quarter on Flipkart. SBI online still tops out at ₹2,000/cycle. Split only if a second eligible bank offer refreshes — not for fun. |
| You only hold ICICI | Use the eligible ICICI card for checkout | Take the bank discount. Don’t expect Amazon Pay rates on Flipkart. |
| You only hold HDFC Millennia | Use it — with eyes open | 5% partners is real until ₹1,000 cashback that month. Fine for a small cart; weak on a big BBD electronics order. |
Flipkart Axis — when the co-brand is worth it
The Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card is built for this ecosystem: 5% cashback on Flipkart, 7.5% on Myntra, 5% on Cleartrip, each with its own ₹4,000 per quarter reward pool (Axis revised these to quarterly in 2026 — they used to feel more monthly). Preferred partners like Swiggy, Uber, and PVR sit at 4%. Everything else is about 1%. Annual fee is ₹500, with a high spend waiver threshold — fine if Flipkart/Myntra is a habit, annoying if you only shop here one week a year.
- BBD edge: eligible for Flipkart’s Axis bank instant discount and early-access framing for Flipkart card holders.
- Ongoing edge: 5% Flipkart cashback is still cashback — not “upto 10% forever.”
- Open it this week only if you’ll keep Flipkart and Myntra spend after the sale. A one-week card for vanity savings is how people end up with unused plastic and a hard inquiry.

SBI Cashback — strong online card, bad BBD myth
SBI Cashback is one of the cleanest online cards in India: 5% on eligible online spends, 1% offline, with a combined ceiling of ₹4,000 per statement cycle and online cashback stopping at ₹2,000 per cycle. That online cap is the part festive posts skip. A ₹80,000 Flipkart bill does not magically print ₹4,000 in SBI cashback — online stops at ₹2,000 for that cycle.
For year-round Amazon + Flipkart + random websites, SBI Cashback is often the sensible single card. For BBD week on Flipkart specifically, it usually loses to Flipkart Axis because it does not get Flipkart’s Axis/ICICI bank-partner instant discount.

HDFC Millennia & MoneyBack+ — honest lane
Millennia pays 5% cashback across ten named online partners that include Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, Swiggy, and a few others — capped at ₹1,000 cashback per month on that partner bucket. MoneyBack+ is closer to 2.5% effective on Flipkart via CashPoints. Both are legitimate HDFC options if that is the bank relationship you already have.
What they are not: a free pass to ignore Axis/ICICI on Flipkart’s sale strip. On a ₹40,000–₹80,000 BBD cart, Millennia’s ₹1,000 monthly partner cap is the story. Use Millennia if it is what you hold and the cart is modest; don’t stretch a WhatsApp claim that “HDFC has the best exclusive BBD deal” without seeing the discount on the checkout page.

ICICI — take the discount, don’t confuse the co-brand
ICICI is a Flipkart banking partner for the sale instant discount. That helps almost any eligible ICICI credit card at checkout. The ICICI Amazon Pay Credit Card is still an Amazon co-brand: accelerated cashback is for Amazon (and related Amazon Pay partners), not for Flipkart at Amazon rates. Using Amazon Pay ICICI on Flipkart during BBD can still make sense for the ICICI bank offer — just price the ongoing earn as base (~1%), not 5%.

Year-round Flipkart shopping (after the sale ends)
Once BBD is over, the instant discount disappears and you are back to MITC math. At roughly ₹8,000 Flipkart a month, Flipkart Axis, SBI Cashback, Millennia, and even Swiggy ORNGE’s online bucket land in a similar ballpark on the Flipkart rupees alone — then fees, fee waivers, Myntra, and the rest of your life decide the winner. At ₹20,000–₹30,000 Flipkart a month, Millennia’s ₹1,000/mo partner cap starts to lose, while Flipkart Axis can still clear 5% until the quarterly pool fills. Mixed Amazon + Flipkart households often do better with two cards than with one compromise.
Mistakes that quietly erase the cashback
- Loading a wallet or gift card and expecting 5% — usually excluded.
- Converting the order to EMI and assuming the same cashback still posts — often it doesn’t.
- Paying with UPI credit on a Visa/Mastercard and wondering where the Flipkart Axis 5% went — that 5% needs the card rails Flipkart expects for the co-brand programme.
- Ignoring the minimum cart value on the bank offer and celebrating a “10%” that never applied.
- Opening Flipkart Axis on 7 October for one phone, then never using Flipkart again — fee, inquiry, and zero habit.
Should you apply for a new card this week?
Apply for Flipkart Axis only if (1) you expect to clear approval on income and CIBIL, (2) Flipkart or Myntra will stay a real monthly habit, and (3) you have time for the card to arrive or get digitalised before you need it. If approval is uncertain or this is a one-off cart, use whatever eligible Axis or ICICI card you already hold, take the checkout discount, and skip the hard inquiry.

Frequently asked questions
When does Flipkart Big Billion Days 2026 start?+
Early access is on 8 October 2026 for eligible Flipkart Plus, Flipkart Black, and Flipkart credit-card members. The sale opens to everyone on 9 October. Flipkart has not announced the end date yet.
Which bank cards get the 10% Flipkart BBD discount?+
Flipkart’s 2026 sale messaging highlights Axis Bank and ICICI Bank for up to 10% instant discount on eligible products, subject to minimum cart value and a maximum discount cap. Always confirm on the product’s offer page — “upto 10%” is not a flat 10% on every SKU.
Does Flipkart Axis cashback stack with the sale discount?+
The sale discount is a checkout instant discount. Flipkart Axis’s 5% is a separate cashback programme with a ₹4,000 per quarter Flipkart pool. Press coverage treats them as stackable layers; confirm on your statement and the live T&Cs, and remember neither layer is unlimited.
Is SBI Cashback better than Flipkart Axis for BBD?+
Usually no for a Flipkart-only BBD cart. SBI Cashback’s online cashback caps at ₹2,000 per statement cycle and it typically does not get Flipkart’s Axis/ICICI bank-partner instant discount. SBI often wins as a year-round general online card across many websites.
Does HDFC Millennia work on Flipkart during Big Billion Days?+
Yes for ongoing partner cashback — 5% on Flipkart within Millennia’s partner list, capped at ₹1,000 cashback per month. That is useful on smaller carts. It is not the same as being Flipkart’s headline 2026 bank partner for the big instant discount.
Should I use Amazon Pay ICICI on Flipkart for BBD?+
Only for the ICICI bank instant discount, if your card is eligible. You will not get Amazon Pay’s accelerated Amazon cashback rates on Flipkart. For Flipkart loyalty, Flipkart Axis is the co-brand built for that merchant.
Amazon Great Indian Festival vs Flipkart BBD — same bank offers?+
No. Flipkart’s 2026 festive bank partners are Axis and ICICI. Amazon’s Great Indian Festival messaging has highlighted SBI for a 10% instant discount path. Don’t assume the same card wins on both platforms the same week.
